What Do My MRI Scan Test Results Indicate?

6 weeks ago I was a pedestrian in a car park and a car reversed back and knock me down. The MRI scan conclusion states: Advanced gliotic change which appear to have become extensively confluent in the periventricular deep white matter. Involvement of pons and mid brain noted. Correlation with vascular rick factors and other causes for gliotic change need to be considered. Please explain simply. Thank you

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your MRI report shows changes in the brain parenchyma that will need monitoring & treatment.

Gliotic changes change in the glial cells due to damage to the CNS.

The changes may involve the hypertrophy of different cells. According to your MRI, the changes extend to the periventricular deep white matter. Confluence means there is merging together as cloud surrounds the upper ventricles.

There are changes in the Pons & midbrain. Visit a Neurosurgeon & a GP & get assessed & treated before symptoms get worse.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
