My son is sixteenth months old and I have found multiple lumps in his groin area on both the left and right hand side our doctor said it was swollen glands and he was given antibiotics on two occasions as after the first course they did not disappear however they have still not gone could this be something other than swollen glands?

Hi.... what are saying is called inguinal lymphadenopathy.
It can occur even when there are minor injuries to the legs and the draining lymph nodes enlarge causing inguinal lymphadenopathy.
But just because the lymph nodes are enlarged you need not worry about them - I will explain you the Red flag signs and if these occur then he will require medical attention -
1. Severe loss of appetite and significant weight loss.
2. Bone Pains.
3. Severe anaemia and significant Pallor.
4. Chronic and recurrent fever for more than 4 weeks.
5. Inguinal lymph node swelling more than 2 centimetre in diameter and hard to feel.
