Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Swelling on the neck where lymph nodes are located can be most probably due to infection and swelling of the lymph nodes or can be due to infection and swelling in salivary gland.
So my suggestion is to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a clinical evaluation and an ultrasound can be done for confirmation.
As you recently had cold and cough then it can be most probably swelling of the lymph nodes and smoking can further aggravate it.
If there is infection then a course of antibiotics like Augmentin can help in improvement.
Also do cool compresses over the swelling that can help in reduction of the swelling.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Honey Arora
