Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
About 3-4 weeks ago I got little spots on my finger that developed into blisters and were really itchy.A few spots spread to the whole top pad of my finger down to the first knuckle, and the blisters were unbearable, they popped and the skin on my finger peeled off. When I first went to Dr I was told it was fungal infection. Went to dermatologist today and he said definitely not fungal and said the name of the condition and even showed me pictures online of exactly the way my finger looks, and all of the changes my finger went through the past month. Please tell me what this is called as I can not remember what he called it.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
I think it is called eczema most precisely dishydrotic eczema which causes itchy blisters to form and then they burst and skin can get peeled off. I would advise you to continue the treatment given by the dermatologist and will include moisturizer creams and petroleum jelly for local application and also steroids.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Harshita
