What Do Intense Cramps After Mirena Insertion Indicate?

Hi, I had Mirena inserted in November of last year, and have really had no issues with it. However, over the past few days I have had slight cramping, and today, the cramping is fairly intense. It feels like bad period cramps, but I have not had my period since the device was inserted. Should I go see a gynecologist?

Hello,
Yes, if the cramping persists then you need to see the gynecologist for an exam and probably an ultrasound to make sure the Mirena has not shifted in the uterus and is causing problems. This is rare but it can happen.
Regards
