What Do Frequent Episodes Of Fall While On Medication For Low BP Suggest?
My 78 yr old father has been having bouts of falling lately. He says he does not remember feeling dizzy or light headed before or after but he tends to fall after getting up from a sitting or lying down position. He does have low blood pressure and takes meds for it. He does have other health issues that I m concerned with. Could this problem be due to his heart, TIAs, or?? His doctor says he thinks it is due to his meds interfering with each other- LASIK and blood pressure meds- so he cut them in half. I m not convinced though as he has been on these meds for quite some time.
You have not mentioned about any other heath issue here. You are suggested to get him a follow up clinical examination done along with tests and investigations so that he can get medicines that keeps him in better health condition. He may need urgent medical care. He also needs a cardiac check up done. In the meantime, keep him at rest and well fed.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
