What Do Enlarged Lymph Nodes On The Left Side Of The Neck Indicate?

Hey Doctor, I had recently discovered some enlarged lymph nodes on the left side of my neck. They don t hurt and they feel a bit tender... I have also been experiencing mild fatigue. I have pain while swallowing and a mild sore throat. I, myself am an Emergency Medicine Doctor, and I believe I may have a case of Infectious Mononucleosis, however wanted to double check with a GP. Thanks for your help :)

Hello! Thanks for trusting HealthcareMagic!

I have gone through your query and I can understand your concerns.

Enlarged lymph nodes just indicate some kind of inflammation in the nearby area. As per your history, you are having sore throats, so the enlarges nodes may be due to your throat infection.

You can start a short course of antibiotics like Amoxicillin for five to seven days. Do warm saline gargles for symptomatic relief. Most of the time it will subside by few days. If symptoms persist, consult a GP.

Wishing you a good health.

Thank you for the query.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
