What Do Elevated Liver Enzymes Indicate?

Recently I received the results of blood tests, urine analysis, and stool sample which indicated very high liver enzymes. I have had all of the symptoms of hepatitis a. When can I expect the condition to abate. I can keep food down and have not vomited but I am not hungry. I drink ice water constantly, but urine is still dark, but stools have formed and no longer the light clay colored. Am I infectious? My husband is symptom free, and I am taking extra hygiene precautions. When can I return to exercise classes at the senior center and resume normal activities w/o relapsing. My internist has told me to go directly to the hospital if my condition worsens or I feel dehydrated. Your take please. I have no idea where I contacted this disease.

Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Hepatitis a is usually transmitted person-to-person through the fecal-oral route or consumption of contaminated food or water.
If your symptoms aggravate you should go to the emergency room for further evaluation and treatment.
