What Do Bumps On The Tongue Indicate?

Hi. I’m freaking out. I have bumps on the back of my tongue. My tongue is normally white. So the bumps aren’t too crazy just on the back, not painful in the least. I’ve had tongue ulcers but I’ve never seen them. I also am getting over bronchitis but i have a bit of congestion

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

Your symptoms are pointing towards enlarged circumvallate papillae..
Circumvallate papillae are present at the back of tongue in a typical "V" shaped pattern.

-It can be due to causes like oral or throat infection, post nasal drip, sinus infection etc..

- If infection is not the cause other cause of the above symptoms can be due to Gastro-esophageal Reflux Disease causing reflux of acid from stomach to throat and mouth..
It causes burning pain in chest, sore throat, throat and enlarged Circumvallate papillae..

-Burning of mouth with very hot foods or gargling with concentrated solution of mouthwash can also be a cause.

For now do warm saline gargles and suck ice pops.
Take Vitamin B complex for a week..

If there is no improvement consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated.

Hope this helps..

Regards..
