What Do Bumps At The Base Of The Scalp Indicate?

My husband has these bumps at the base/neckline of his scalp. He keeps scratching it and it scabs over, and then it is even more red and itchy. I want to get something for him, but not sure what. Do you know of some medicated shampoo, I can get over the counter?

Thanks for putting your query over here.
The condition you mentioned nay be caused by scalp folliculitis or a fungal infection called tinea capitis. What all you can do as part of treatment is-
Keep scalp and hair neat and tidy by regular washing. You can use medicated shampoo containing 2%-5% ketoconazole/benzoyl peroxide with salicylic acid.
Avoid sharing combs with others .If the symptoms persists or worsen, visit a dermatologist.you may then need oral antibiotics or antifungals.
Thanks and regards.
