What Do Blood Clots In The Nose Indicate For Patients With Pulmonary Embolism?

My mom is 73yo, she is taking zarelto and has a history of pulmonary emblolism, today she thought her nose was running and wiped it with a tissue and it was a big blood clot. She says that she can feel it draining into her throat and coughs up more clots. What could this possibly be?

Hi,

I have gone through your question and understand your concern

“As” per your clinical history is concerned she had a past history of pulmonary embolism and her present symptom is not associated with it so nothing to be worried at all. So in my opinion visit an ENT doctor in your area and he will do a nasal endoscope to know from which point such clots are coming and will take steps to control bleeding as well as clot formation. Do check her Blood pressure and if present take medications for it.

Hope that helps
