What Do Abdominal Pain And Vomiting Indicate?

19 year old boy pain an 8 on scale from 1-10 states he woke up with pain and started vomiting. Denies drinking (away from home) states that pain come on sudden and constant. Had his appendix removed while in Kenya, worried about “stump appendicitis.”? Or Hernia? He had inguinal hernia as small child but can’t remember which side (he is a twin and his brother and him always got the same things...weeks apart from eachother) no fever. Normal Bowel movement, no pain with urine and no observable blood in urine. He said he has a weird indention on that side of his belly.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for your query.
The symptoms indicate possibility of acute abdomen... which I feel should be considered first ( in examination by a surgeon with needful investigations Should be the begining of the care.
-In case there is accompaning burning in stomach ... try with sips of ice cold milk... this would relief pain &vomitting too.
-oral water /ors with water should be tried if vomitting has stopped...this would arrest dehydration. eventually further eaminations.
In case vomitting is continued direct admission to ER would be ideal .
Thanks.
