What Could Swelling And Pain In Deltoid Muscles, Have Various Heart Conditions?
I have a swelling of musclefibre on the right upper arm causing much pain- in the deltoid; this flare up happens from time to time; has been there for the last 20 years. This happened when I suffered a muscle pull while tossing a garbage bag some 20 years ago. I am 78 years old , had open heart surgery , aortic valve replaced, mitral valve repaired and a pace maker implanted in December of 2012. I ingest Lipitore 40 mg, aspirin 81 mg, Olmatac 20 mg for BP and Atenelol 20mg.

The pain seems to be present since a long duration. It could be a possible rotator cuff injury, a tear in the shoulder group muscle which has not healed properly. The pain usually should increase when you lift your arm above the shoulder level.
You can try physiotherapy or in extreme pains can take NSAID pain killers, which should reduce your pain.
No surgeries are advisable at these, as healing takes a longer time in elderly compared to the young and your present cardiac condition would make you probably ineligible for surgeries.
As it is not a major complaint compared to other surgeries, try rest, physiotherapy and occasional as needed pain killers.
