What Could Sweaty Outbreaks And Shortness Of Breath, Post Intake Of High Sugar Foods Suggest?

What could possibly be wrong with my husband? After and sometimes before I consume high sugar content foods such as 1 coke & 1 snickers, I have clammy sweaty outbreaks, shortness of breathe & become suddenly weak & somewhat disoriented. He will not take this seriously & has horrible eating habits.

Diabetologist 's  Response
Hi, welcome to our site. I am Dr Saumya Mittal, MD.

Read your query. That is a very significant question and i appreciate your problem. I will try my best to answer your query

maybe you should seriously check your sugars. they may be running high. the addition of things like coke and chocolate bars to diet increases the sugar levels. in fact there is a spike of sugar which may tax the already strained insulin.

When one develops hyperglycemia, or high sugars, you run a risk of getting into a condition called diabetic ketoacidosis. The features you have mentioned could be a part of this syndrome easily.

Suggest testing sugars- FBS, PPBS, HbA1c- urgently.

I hope this helps you. Inform the reports mentioned above/if any other so I can be of help further.

I have given you the answer to the maximum considering the information provided. The results of the tests could further enhance my answer to you.

Please do understand that some details could be extracted from a detailed history and examination.

Please feel free to ask another query. I would be glad to help you. Looking forward to your return query with the details asked so that I can help you further.
