What Could Sudden Shocking Sensations From The Nerve Endings On The Skin Indicate?

Hi, I sometimes feel like the nerve endings in my skin are shocking me, different places. This time, is started near my groin. Today it stopped there, but started closer to my ribs. It feels just like a shock and even makes me jump. Interrupts sleep. Ibuprofen or aspirin makes it go away for a few hours.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

This type of tingling sensation off and on is suggestive of neuritis.
- If you are a diabetic, watch for your blood sugar levels and start getting B12 supplements as per your diabetologist's advice.
- It can be present in undernourished person / a non-vegetarian person-as vegetarian food is devoid of B12 vitamin content.

You start taking Tab. Neuribion, over the counter, twice a day after food. Injectable would give faster effect. If no relief, you would need to consult a physician.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
