What Could Sputum Culture With Puss Cells Suggest?

severe coughing, possibly living in a house with mold. had sputum test and it shows moderate pus cells, moderate epithelial cells, moderate gram positive cocci, few gram negative cocci, few gram positive bacilli. Chest xray shows in my lung a calcified granuloma in the lower right lung.what does this mean?

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello and welcome to HCM,
Sputum showing epithelial cells and bacteria does not suggest any disease process in the respiratory tract.
The bacteria seen in sputum are normal flora of the respiratory tract.
X-ray showing a calcified granuloma can be due to healed tubercular infection.
Calcified granumoma is not due to active tuberculosis.
Cough with sputum production could be possibly due to non-specific infection of the respiratory tract.

Thanks and take care

General & Family Physician Dr. Simit Jadia's  Response
Thanks for your query
As per your complaint and ur x ray finding you might be having secondary infection in granuloma.. So please go for blood count and sputum culture sensitivity and take medicines / antibiotics accordingly after consulting your family physician.
Hope u get well soon
