Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Could Recurring Severe Flu Like Symptoms Indicate?
For the last 2 months I have been having severe flue like symptoms approx every 10 days, lasting for 2 to 3 days which then eases. I am type 2 diabetic ( 7yrs). Checking my blood sugar levelduring these episodes, in the morning after breakfast 4.1 to 4.5 and during theday its not going higher than 5.0 It used to raise to approx 7-10 after food. could this be the cause of feeling ill so regularly
Recurrent attacks of flu can be your exposure to people at work, at home, other places wherein you are getting recurrent attacks. Reduced immunity due to diabetes or so can be another reason. Diabetes also can be the underlying reason. I would advise you the following: * First of all consult your Diabetologist and get proper control of diabetes and any other medical conditions like anemia, hypoproteinemia. * Get started on immunity boosters like multivitamins and minerals. * Consult an ENT Surgeon for clinical evaluation to see for any primary cause like sinusitis or so. Investigations accordingly. * Get treated properly. * Keep away from suspected viral affected people.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
