What Could Non Displaced Subchondral Fracture Suggest?
HI I have "marrow contusion within the anterior and lateral tibial plateau with associated nondisplaced subchondral fracture." this happened about 3 weeks ago. For 2 wks after the injury I was unaware and continued training: plyometrics/sprinting/volleyball/little flagfootball. Finally, I decided to see a doctor because was concerned... Anyway, the MRI read got the results. My ortho doctor wanted no weight bearing for a month. My question is realistically, how long do I have until I can play flagfootball??? I 'm curious because I thought it was strange I could play sports and train with this injury...

HI THANKS FOR POSTING YOUR QUERY ON HEALTH CARE MAGIC. SHEARING STRESS AND TRAUMA CAN CAUSE SUBCHONDRAL TIBIAL PLATEAU INJURIES. IT CAN WORSEN FURTHER WITH WEIGHT BEARING. UNDISPLACED FRACTURES INDICATE FRACTURE SEGMENTS STAYING IN ITS PLACE. SPORTS ACTIVITY CAN CAUSE DISPLACEMENT OF FRACTURED SEGMENTS. HENCE IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU STOP PLAYING SPORTS. IT TAKES APPROXIMATELY 6-8 WEEKS FOR THE FRACTURE IN YOUR CASE TO HEAL. CONSULT AN EXPERT ORTHOPEDICIAN FOR FURTHER QUERIES. THANK YOU TAKE CARE
