What Could Intestinal Inflammation In Children, With A Family History Of Chrons Disease Suggest?

Hello! I am inquiring about my 9 year old daughter. She has had blood work and a stool sample tested that have come back positive with the results showing inflammation in her intestines. I have informed her Dr. that Chron's disease runs in my family with my oldest sister and my brother having the disease. She has shown no other signs other than abdominal pain (directly behind her naval) which began Nov. 2, 2009. Due to the results and family history, she was scheduled to have an EGD and colonoscopy. During her prep the night before, per her Drs. instructions, clear liquid diet and suggested 12oz Milk of Magnesia, proved to be way too much for 65lb body resulting in her blacking out and vomiting. Her Dr. has now suggested a new prep. and reschedule for the procedure. My question is, is there any other way to find out what is going on with her other than, what I would consider, traumatic and evasive?

Regards,

Mrs. Snyder

Hi,Dear,Thanks for your query to HCM.
Dear I read your query and reviewed it with context to your query facts.
I understood your health concerns and feel Concerned about them.

Based on the facts of your query, you seem to suffer from-
IBD with Familial Crohn's Disease.
Dear,The EGD / Colonoscopy though invasive would corroborate definative biopsy evidences to the radiological and serological accompanied markers, and would positively add to the treatment plan.
Non-Invasive Investigations for Crohn's disease-
Option to this Invasive investigations-
-Serological Markers
-Stool Examination for Biologic and Genetic Markers
-Capsule Endoscopic(CE) Study-
-Radiological Investigations-
-Option to this invasive procedure which provides definitive evidence by biopsy of the intestinal and colonic inflamed areas,is Capsule Endoscopy(CE) which provides only Video evidence for IBD(Inflammatory Bowel Disease) CD(Crohn's Disease)/UC(Ulcerative Colitis)

Hope this would resolve your health issues in the best way possible.
