What Could High Blood Sugar Post Sinus Surgery Suggest?
My cousin just had sinus surgery today. She s been on ovygen but she s also diabetic. She checked her blood sugar and its ay 330. She took an insulin shot and went to bed. Is there something else she should do with it that high after surgery? Will she be alright?
Hello, a higher than usual blood glucose level is expected after surgery. 330 is a high level but it can be decreased with . Blood glucose level is also decreased by physical activity. There is nothing to worry about provided she takes her insulin and monitors it closely. Note that in cases like hers, higher insulin doses will be required. If she's not comfortable with insulin dosage regulation then she'd better consult her doctor. Very high blood glucose levels may cause dehydration. Lack of insulin may cause ketoacidosis (particularly in type 1 diabetes). No harm will occur if she watches her blood sugar closely and takes the appropriate insulin dose. I hope I've addressed your concerns! If you have any more questions, you can ask me again! Kind Regards!
