What Could Growing, Painful, Fluid Filled Bump On Shin Indicate?

At practice last week, I looked down and saw a penny-sized bump on my shin (front of bone and middle of shin)... it stuck out about half an inch. I do not remember getting bumped or having any sort of trauma or injury. I iced a few days and it seemed to go down. Now, a little over a week later, the pain has increased quite a bit, the bump has grown and when I stand it feels like fluid under the skin. Any ideas on what this could be?

Welcome at HCM
I appreciate your health concerns..
It need to be examined before embarking upon any diagnosis. What is colour of overlying skin? Is it warm? Any enlarged lymph nodes in your groin?
It may be a cyst, lipoma, boil or abscess.
You need to be seen by your surgeon .
Meanwhile stay calm and use acetaminophen to relieve pain.
Hope it helps
