What Could Dizziness With Cold Sweats Suggest?

My husband is 31 he got up to urinate in the middle of the night and fainted. Never had anything like this happen before. Once he awoke he was still feeling ill ; cold sweats neaseu vomiting dizzy. Is this something to be extremely concerned about? What should I look for in terms of taking him to an ER?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry about what happened to your husband. This would have most likely represented a rapid drop in blood pressure as he transitioned from lying flat to an upright position. If he has no other symptoms, I will will recommend that you do nothing more at this time. should this recur in future, then he would definitely need evaluation. Let him aways try not to transition so rapidly from lying flat to an upright position as the skin may not adjust rapid and let to a drop in blood supply to the brain which is responsible for these symptoms.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and feel free to ask for more clarifications and information if need be.
