What Could Dark Spot Behind Rib In CT Scan Result Indicate?
My father went in for a routine CT scan to check his pacemaker, which was implanted about two years ago. Results revealed a rib fracture and a 'dark spot' 'behind' the rib. My father took a fall on ice two weeks ago but experienced no pain. Doctor felt this fracture was not due to an external injury. Scan is undergoing further analysis, we're waiting on a phone call. I am expecting biopsy will be the next step, if this turns out to be a growth. Mostly wondering how concerned I should be.
welcome to Health care magic. 1.An hypo-dense lesion on a CT scan is seen in case of lung based lesions, pleural based lesions. It would have beed better if you had mentioned the impression of the report. And how big the lesion is ? 2.However the lesions lesion less than 3 cm are called (SPN) solitary pulmonary nodules - generally monitored. 3.An CECT - contrast enhanced computer tomography better than the plain CT. 4.I think you don't have to be so much concern, as you are describing it as a spot, its most probably SPN - Follw-up is done. 5.if the size any thing bigger than the 3cm an guided biopsy would be indicated. Hope it helps you. Wish you a good health. Anything to ask ? do not hesitate. Thank you.
