What Could Cause Throat Gagging Sensation?

HI, ive had a very random gagging sensation in my throat for a few months now. This happened to me a few years back and I ended up in the hospital because i was vomitting so much. I feel like I have to swallow hard because I have mucuose in the back of my throat. Drinking water seems to help, and when the sensation comes on I have to stop talking and moving.

Hi
Thank you for asking HCM.
I have gone through your query. Your problem can be due to Laryngopharyngeal reflux. For this taking proton pump inhibitors like Esomeprazole ( Nexium ) and motility enhancers like Domperidone for 1 month will be helpful. Take light meals at short intervals. Avoid carbonated drinks, coffee , alcohol and smoking. Have dinner at least 2 hours before sleeping. Raise the head end more with additional pillows while sleeping. If there is no improvement after these measures then a consultation with Gastroenterologist is well appreciated.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
