What Could Cause Numbness In Knees, Arms, Hips And Legs?

My right arm, from elbow to tip of pinky finger, and my right leg, from back of hip to just below the knee, have been going numb (tingly) when I sit in my office chair for more than a few minutes. And I have a desk job, so I am supposed to sit pretty much all day long. Please advise.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.

Based on the description, I suspect that your symptoms of tingling and numbness could be most possibly due to compression of the nerves owing to the pressure exerted on them as a result of prolonged sitting in one particular position.

So, I suggest you to change the position in your chair frequently, once in 2 hours to avoid compression of the nerves.

If your symptoms still persist, consult an orthopedic surgeon or a Neurophysician for further evaluation and management.

Hope this information is helpful. Good day
