What Could Cause Fuzzy Vision And Diarrhea?

Saw another post where a parent was asking about loose stools and halo vision. My daughter has had a tummy bug for a couple Of days and last night had bad diaharea (sp). TodAy she complained of having "fuzzy" vision around lights. Is this dehydration?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Yes, it is associated with definite dehydration leading to the lowering of blood pressure by excess fluid loss with electrolyte imbalance.
Take necessary precautions for better recovery.
• Get your BP checked with a digital instrument, if available.
• Drink plenty of liquids as possible preferably boiled water, oral rehydration salts, coconut water, rice water, lemon juice, green tea, coffee, buttermilk, etc.
• Have small amount of soft diet at regular intervals.
• Avoid prolong fasting/overeating.
• Avoid oily, spicy, non-vegetarian stuff, beverages, etc.
• Avoid smoking, alcohol, and any abuse substances, if used.
• Keep your BP, blood sugar, weight under control.

In our clinic we recommend to give certain gut specific antibiotics with probiotics for faster results; certain lab tests +/- IV fluids and supportive care in the hospital.

Relax, this is not the liver issue.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
