What Could Cause Elevated Cholesterol Level?

I'm 38 and on lisinopril following a stroke last January, at which time my bp and cholesterol were slightly elevated(they put me on Lisinopril and Simvastatin, which I still take) and today, they took my bp at a new rehab intake and it was 138/92. My wife is freaking out so I put a call in to my doctor's office to ask about it. At face value, is this cause for alarm?

Hello and thank you for using HCM.I carefully read your question and I understand your concern. You shoud not worry. I'll try to explain you something and give you my opinion.

You should know that we talk about hypertension if we have mean value that exceeds 140 / 90 mmHg.A person might have high value during emotional and physical strees.

When we treat hypertension, our goal is to have mean value below 140/ 90 mmHg. The value that you have mention it is nothing to worry about.

Of course, as you previously had a stroke it means that your preasure should be lower, nearly 120-110/70-80 mmhg.

To judge the efficacy of your treatment it is essential to check mean values.
If I was your treating doctor I would recommend a holter pressure monitoring to evaluate your values during day and night.

According to cholesterol level, you should continue your medical treatment, chek the value after 40 days ans discuss the dosage whith your doctors.

Hope I was helpfull.
Best regards.
