What Could Cause Coughing Up Of Dark Brown Phlegm?

I smoke poppers (weed & tobacco) in a bong, everyday. I've been doing so for the past 3yrs.I had always been a tobacco smoker since age 14, about a pack a day. At age 16 i started smoking pot daily aswell. at age 20 i started smoking poppers. i quit smoking instantly, no cravings at all and i was only going through 2 smokes a day and about a gram of weed. however, I started coughing up dark brown chunks of phlem, throughout the day, everyday. Am i doing more damage to myself and lungs?

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your situation and problem.
Smoking in any form is harmful for the body.
Especially tobacco smoke is most dangerous.
It damages lung the most.
It causes constant irritation and inflammation in the lungs. It weakens lung defense and make it prone for infection.
So better to first quit smoking as soon as possible, it is not good habit.
Consult pulmonologist and get done
1. Clinical examination of respiratory system
2. Chest x ray
3. PFT (Pulmonary Function Test).
Chest x ray is needed to rule out lung infection and lung cancer.
PFT is needed to rule out bronchitis.
So quit smoking, first diagnose yourself and then start appropriate treatment.
Hope I have solved your query.
Wish you good health. Thanks.
