What Could Cause Blood In The Saliva?

Hi. My son plays running back and in his game yesterday he landed on the football and it knocked the wind out of him. Last night he spit and there was some blood in it. Then this morning he spit and the blood was brownish. When he takes a deep breath it makes him cough. Should I take him to be checked out?

Hello,

Of course, you should check him. At least a doctor should see the throat with a light to check what is causing bleeding. Then a pneumologist may be seen for cough.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
