What Could Cause An Infant To Stick Out His Tongue For Hours Together?

Hello. I was wondering, my friend,s child is 8 months old. I was visiting today, and I could not help but notice that the whole 4 hrs I was there, his tongue was stuck out. The baby is overweight, was happy, didn t seen to have an allergy problem. He does seem to be slow on development. Is there any cause for alarm ?

Hi...slow development and protruding tongue is a marker of hypothyroidism, That infant will definitely need to worked up on the terms of hypothyroidism and another marker of this is a hernia at the umbilicus.
