What Could Cause A Pin Prick Sensation On The Knees?

Today I was on the floor on my knees and felt a sudden pin prick sensation on the outside of my knee. It was so superficial I thought I had kneeled on something sharp but there was nothing there. It has since happened everytime I have knelt down today. What is this pain?

This type of pain can occur due to prepatellar bursitis. This happens due to rubbing of knee on hard surface. Bursa is fluid filled cushion around knee joint and due to friction it can filled with water, this can cause pin prick like sensation. You have to take pain killers like brufen or acetaminophen. Also hot water fomentation is helpful.
