What Could Be The Stinging Nettle Rash That Covers Hands And Foot?

My four year old son came out of school on Monday with what looked like a stinging nettle rash on his hand. Two day later the rash has got bigger and now covers his whole hand and he also has it on the bottom of this foot. What could this rash be? It also itches him.

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi,
I can understand the concern for tinging nettle rash in your son.

After reading your history it appears that your son has developed Allergic contact dermatitis to some contact allergen. You can go for patch test to rule out the exact cause. For the same you can meet a dermatologist who will guide you properly.

I advise you to not pinch or pop the area otherwise these areas are very prone for getting secondary infection. For time being period you can apply steroid based cream such as mometasone or cortisone and take antihistamine tablet such as loratadine or cetrizine.

Do not try to even touch or pinch the area as can cause more aggravation of the problem.

Take care.
