What Could Be The Red Warm Rashes On The Back Of Both Upper Arms For A Two Year Old?
My almost 2 year old has a red, warm/hot rash on the back of both upper arms. One side is definitely more significant than the other. She seems completely fine, is not appearing to be bothered, does not seem itchy at all. My concern is how warm it is to the touch - and strange that it is symmetrical?
The kind of skin rash that your child has looks more like an allergic skin rash. Since it it present on both the arms at the outer aspect, so there is a possibility that it can be sun induced skin rash. It can be due to sun burns or it can simply be a sensitive sun rash. Such a rash tends to occur symmetrically on the sun exposed areas of the body which seems to be the case with your child as well. Try to keep the affected areas covered. We do not recommend use of sunscreen in such young children. You can however give some antihistamines for itching.
Hope it helps Dr Geetika Paul
