What Could Be The Reason For Persisting Wrist Pain?
I have had pain in my left wrist (I'm right handed) for a little over a year now. I'm not certain how it originated but I may have applied too much pressure in the first place. When I first hurt my wrist I had to do around 2 days of dance (around 1-2 hours each day I think), so quite a lot of pressure was applied in the first week or so. I'm beginning to become concerned as I am in my early teens and would like to know if this is really serious. Thanks.
Hello and welcome to HCM, A chronic wrist pain lasting for over a year is of concern. The trauma which you sustained one year back is the possible cause of the pain. A fracture is unlikely since, it will show up immediately after the injury. A soft tissue injury is the likely cause of the pain. There are number of structures in the wrist- tendons, ligaments, and muscles. Injury to one of these structures is expected. Long time inflammation can cause calcification and thus pain. You need to consult an orthopedician for clinical examination, imaging study of the wrist joint and thus management.
