What Could Be The Reason For Having Blood In My Urine?
I have been told I have blood in my urine, waited 2 weeks checked again and same results. I am a 73 year old female that urinate mostly at night, sometimes it is a strain. My Dr. sent my culture to a lab yesterday. What are some of the results I might hear
Hi, The most common reason for microscopic blood in urine is a urinary tract infection. Sometimes this can occur without any apparent symptom like pain or increased frequency of urination. Was there any increased number of WBCs in urine? This goes in favor of urinary infection. Culture can tell you if there is any infection, the organism causing it and the appropriate antibiotics to which the infection will respond. The other causes can be just physical exertion, stones in kidneys or rarely tumors. If the culture does not show any infection, the next step will be to do an ultrasound KUB (kidneys, ureters and bladder). Please let me know if you need any clarification, Wish you good health, Dr. Raguram.
