What Could Be The Reason For Dry Skin And Inflammation For My Wife With High Level Of ESR ?

Dr. My wife (age 40)is suffering from repeated inflamation (indicated by high levels of ESRand other discomforts) since her childhood. Inspite of repeated cunsultaion with doctors the case could not be diagonised. She also experiences acute dry skin(sometimes it starts bleeding the heels and palms) during the period. She also suffers from minor brochical asthma . Can any one offer me a guidance?

Hi, Plz get a routine examination done including FBS and Allergy Skin Test from any good lab. Then we will proceed for any familial bleeding disorder. For the time being take good care of her skin and asthma and give her medicines like antihistaminics regularly which will decrease dermatitis in this season.Good Luck!!!

Dear Tomta, Welcome to Healthcaremagic!
ESR is a non-specific marker of inflammation & raised in anaemia, eld age, autoimmune diseases, rheumatoid arthritis etc., but you have not described your wife discomforts nor 'inflammations' signs'. For dry skin, I suggest (1) application of copious amounts of coconut oil or olive oil after bath; (2) for bleeding heels or palms-- seems she has hyperkeratotic eczema or palmoplantar psoriasis-- consult a dermatologist for treatment which I think should help her. Likewise, 'minor bronchial asthma' is also controllable with medications. I advice you to consult a good General Physician in consultations with skin specialist. Good luck.
