I have recently been diagnois with COPD . My lungs burn and hurt. Thursday night and All Day Friday I was SOB. I went to the ER last night. They say my lungs are clear and I was Sat at 98-100. I was told that I was having anxiety and they gave me a Ativan . My lungs still hurt today. If I get up and move around I get dizzy and SOB Is this really anxiety?

hello friend..first of all i would want you to meet a good physician and get yourself diagnosed corretly, beacuse COPD is a general term applied to two conditions-1)Chronic bronchitis and 2)emphysema.However even if you are suffering from either of the variants of copd, the main culprit still remains smoking.if your a smoker i suggest you to reduce smoking as quitting at once is not all that easy.you should also avoid passive smoking i.e being in vicinity of other people who smoke and you should also avoid being exposed to other respiratory irritants.Anxiety is normal human tendency and its subjective that how well each person tolerates it.you can go for a counselling instead of popping pills and i suggest that you invovle yourself in some breathing exercises or yoga which will benefit your respiratory problem as well as relieve your stress.also maintain a healthy nutrition rich in vitamin c,protect yourself from cold, express your feelings and share emotions and do consider a suppot group..wishing you good health..:)
