What Could Be The Cause For Vomiting After Taking A Migraine Shot?

I have a sister in law in the hospital and they can t find a diagnosis. She started with a sensation of heat in the back of her head while working out. That brought a fierce headache and vomiting. She got a migraine shot like she s done before. Vomiting worsened and she didn t recognize her own children. She s now in the hospital and can only say the word yes. She s not eating or drinking. She tested positive for a UTI, but all big things are ruled out, stroke, aneurysm, heart. Any suggestions?

Hello,

First of all, she should have done a CT Brain to exclude a brain lesion before taking a shot for migraine.

Some medications for migraine have serious side effects such as rapid vasoconstriction of the blood vessels resulting in a minor insult in her brain or brain edema, so she needs to do MRI T2 Weighted Brain and she needs to do some investigations such as; CBC, fasting blood glucose, Liver and kidney function tests.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
