What Causes Yellowish White Fluid From The Scab Where Biopsy Is Done?

I had a shave biopsy on my face about 10 days and it is healing and a scab has formed over it - I am taking Keflex as the wound looked red and a little inflammed at first - so as I said healing good - the scab has formed and I am not messing with it. Tonight I pressed on my face near the scab and some fluid came out - yellowish white in color and it concerned me for infection? I have not been using antibiotic ointment as I seem to react to it - It was just a little fluid - and I washed my skin carefully. Is this a reason to call the doctor again? Since I am just finishing up a round of Keflex?

Hi,

I can understand your concern for yellowish white fluid from the scab where Biopsy is done.

You should meet your treating doctor to rule out any secondary infection at the biopsy site. Do not try to even touch or pinch the area as can cause more aggravation of the problem and spread of the infection. This area is quite common to get infected very easily because of sweating and high bacterial proliferation.

For time being period you can apply antibiotic cream such as gentamycin or fucidin or mupirocin and take pain killer tablets such diclofenac or paracetamol.

Take care.
