What Causes Yellowish Tissue Layer On Vaginal Opening While Having Lichen Sclerosus?

I have been diagnosed with lichen sclerosis.Do I need to see a gynecologist yearly for this, I am 68. Also I told my new family doctor about and he prescribed estrace as I told him I had terrible itching down on labia area. I looked inside my vagina opening and discovered a band of tissue wrapped around in there. It is yellowish in color and looks like fat that is left on the edge of meat. Could it be fat?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi.

It is most probably caused due to the lichen sclerosis itself, and nothing else. Make sure you take treatment for the lichen, which mainly includes corticosteroid ointments, but please make sure you speak to your doctor and only initiate treatment once you receive a prescription from your doctor.

Best wishes.
