What Causes Yellowish Discharge From The Surgery Site Of Partial Thyroid Removal?

Hi there. My son had a partial thyroid removal operation two weeks ago. The ragged end of the scar line is seeping a yellowish fluid. Is this normal and should the scar not have healed completely by now. Worried about infection getting into wound. Thanks

Hi
Thanks for posting on HCM
Yellowish discharge from a surgery site may be seropurulent or purulent. This drainage usually means that the wound has an infection and will need further treatment.I will suggest you see your Doctor for evaluation.Regular wound dressing and antibiotherapy will help.If evolution on this is not very good, a discharge culture and sensitivity test may be requested.
Hope this will help
Best wishes
