What Causes Yellow Vaginal Discharge Post Intake Of Emergency Contraceptive Pill?

I had sex with my man over the weekend and then took the emergency pill on Monday morning but on Tuesday evening I noticed a greenish yellowish discharge that was really thick and smelling like one has taken tablets and it has continued on to today so iam just wondering why is it like this , this time round because I have never had it before.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear
Understand your concern.
I think it is a side effects of emergency contraceptive pills.
It is just menstrual bleed that combine with cervical mucus and secretion and remain in uterus and produce yellowish discharge.
It will remain for 4-5 days.

But if it is associated with foul smells, itchiness, redness and abdominal cramp,
It may be vaginal infections and require gynecologist consultation and treated by antibiotics and anti fungal drugs.
It should be confirmed by : cell culture, PCR, NAAT, Gram stain, microscopy of vaginal cells
CBC, ESR, Urine routine and microscopic examination.

Advice:
Maintain hygiene
Wear loose pure cotton inner wear
Wipe area after sex and intercourse
Drink more fluids
Take healthy diet.
Lactobacilli orally or vaginally

Hope this may help you
best regards
