General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Yellow vaginal discharge after a hysterectomy can be a normal part of the healing process, as the body produces fluid to help with the healing of the surgical incisions. However, it is important to monitor the discharge and inform your healthcare provider if you experience any concerning symptoms, such as foul odor, increased amount or frequency of discharge, or signs of infection such as fever, chills, or redness around the incision.

The discharge may be due to a variety of factors, including residual blood, mucus, or other fluids from the surgical site. It is important to keep the area clean and dry and to follow any post-operative instructions provided by your healthcare provider, such as avoiding heavy lifting or strenuous activity.

If you have concerns about the discharge or if it persists or worsens, it is important to follow up with your healthcare provider for further evaluation and management. They may recommend additional testing or treatment to address your symptoms and ensure that your recovery is progressing as expected.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
