What Causes Yeast Infection ?

I sometimes get yeast infections. I am 52, 5 ft. 6 in., 303 lbs. now (had hysterectomy when 31 but kept ovaries). Over the last year, or so, I have lost 50 lbs.

This week I started having vaginal itching and burning, feels a little swollen. Burns when I urinate and very RAW and sometimes bleeds where it is itching. I have recently realized that I am getting somewhat dry also. I was on antibiotic a month ago but was given Diflucan because I do get yeast. Yesterday I was called in Terconazole because most of the OTC products do not work for me anymore. Itching is unbelievable right now.

Could this possibly be menopausal in nature? I remember hearing my mother talk about atrophic vatinosis when I was younger. Could this be what is wrong? If so, what OTC can help? I have had pulmonary emboli so cannot take hormones.
