Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
The skin near the groin area, between the legs is wrinkled, dry and hard to feel when I touch it. I am currently having pityriasis rosea on the upper body. Has this got something to do with the wrinkled and rough skin in between the legs. Also since last 3 days I have observed white flaky skin patches on the genitals as well.
You have a history of Pityriasis rosea, it may be related to viral infections(herpes).
1. Wrinkled skin between the legs near the groin area can be due to a skin disorder called Acanthosis Nigricans. The cause is elevated insulin levels.
2. Medical conditions like thyroid & pituitary disorders or sometimes Addison's disease can cause it.
You are suggested to visit a dermatologist & get physically examined. Get all the required blood tests, STI tests, X-Ray & biopsy done to detect the severity of the disease. You may need antivirals, antibiotics. If diabetic, get treated for diabetes & maintain blood sugar level to the normal levels.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
