What Causes White Spots On My Leg And A Black Scar On My Back?

Hi Doc,

About one year back I started geeting small white sopts on left leg and now its getting increased over my left leg. Also I was having black scar on my back. That also gone white. Now doctors are saying it may be vitilgo. Intially they said its not vitilgo.

I am having Diabetics also since last 20 years. Intially my skin used to really dry.

On the right leg also having 3-4 small white spots. Really worried that it must not spread.

Any ointment/medicine

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi and welcome to HCM,
Initiaaly on reading your query I was certain that you must be having Idiopahtic guttate Hypomelanosis which is a common skin skin condition manifesting with pin head white spots mostly on extremities. It is a age related condition and hence is seen more in elderly. Since its completely benign, usually no treatment is prescribed for it. But as you have mentioned that your previously pigmented scar has also turned white, then we must keep the possibility of vitiligo in mind. Few things that need to be cleared are- Family history of vitilgo or appearance of whitish spots at site of trauma..
I would suggest you get examined under Wood's lamp and then take further treatment.
Regards
