What Causes White Patches On Skin?

, I am having white patches on my skin since last 15 year. There is no change in color , shape , size or itching since that time. There is family hereditary with this.Taking treatment since last 15 year. i used pacroma cream from last month.Is this treatment OK?. pleasr suggest plzzzzzzzz

Thanks for the query,
Vitiligo is an autoimmune disorder.
It happens due to formation of antibodies against pigment forming cells of skin.
It cannot be totally cured but can be controlled.
Both medical as well as surgical modalities are available.
Steroids are the first line of treatment.
Other immune suppressant drugs like azathioprine can be used.

If medication doesn’t work then surgical modalities can be used.
Various surgeries like punch grafting, split thickness skin grafting can be done.

This disease doesn’t spread from patient to others.
It doesn’t have any relation to diet.
Please meet a dermatologist for expert suggestions.
