What Causes White Patches Inside The Cheeks?

Hi! I looked in the mirror today and I saw that I have white skin on both of the insides of my cheeks. I m not a smoker. I do not have any oral problems. The only thing I can associate with this is that I bite my cheeks. It isn t painful or anything. I just want to know what it is. Can you help me with that?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Take a cotton swab and see if it scrapes off. If it does then it is probably thrush which is a yeast type infection and is easily treated. If it does not scrape off it can be a sign of a precancerous lesion so in that case see your doctor or dentist as soon as possible for an exam and possible biopsy.
If it is thrush you will also need to be seen to get treatment.
Regards
