What Causes Weight Loss In An Infant Despite A Healthy Appetite?

My 5 months old daughter is on exclusive breastfeeding for the last 5 months. but in the last health check up her weight decreased 250 gram, currently her weight is 6750 gram. So, is it a health concern or it is just for the winter season? Or it is the time to start the formula feeding? And if we start the formula feeding which product we should choose among different products available in the market? When and how (with quantity) the formula should be fed to the baby?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

If she is feeding well then the breastfeeding can continue till she is a yr old.
If you are not comfortable breastfeeding then you can introduce formula which she would use instead of the breast milk.
There are a wide range of formulas available, you can choose one for her age group and monitor to see if she likes it and for any effects (rash or change in stool habits). If none occur then it can be continued.

You may want to consider starting her on mashed foods now that she is 5 months old. This can be started from 4 to 6 months of age.

Cereals should be started first, this may help with weight gain.

Fruits and vegetables can then be introduced, all mashed, one at a time. Each food should be introduced on its own for at least 3 days to monitor for any reaction.

I hope this helps
