What Causes Weight Gain While On Budesonide?

I have been on an oral Budesonide for several years for UC. This last year I have also been using Uceris. I have been noticing my added weight in my face and upper body. Also have a lot of bruising and thin skin. Is the budesinide possibly causing these symtons. Do I need to discuss with my gastro Dr. Getting off of the med.?

Hi,

Thanks for asking. I understand your concern.
Yes oral steroids do have side effect of water retention in tissues to cause weight gain. It also thins out your skin making it more prone for bruises.

Your side effects are due to prolonged consumption of steroids. It needs to be slowly tapered down and replaced by alternative medication to control your symptoms.
Visit your treating doctor please.

Thanks
